NAIROBI, Kenya – Televangelist James Maina Ng’ang’a has today, Wednesday, February 12, 2025, paid a courtesy call to Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Alice Wahome.
Y News has established that the two discussed the ruling Kenya Kwanza government’s Affordable Housing Program.
“This engagement is part of our continuous efforts to educate and create awareness among Kenyans about the opportunities available through this transformative initiative,” reads a statement from CS Wahome following the meeting.
CS Wahome was accompanied by Sheila Waweru, the CEO of the Affordable Housing Board, who she said had provided key insights into the program’s progress, objectives, and impact on Kenyans across the country.
“The Affordable Housing Program is not just about constructing houses—it is about providing dignity, security, and economic empowerment to millions of Kenyans,” CS Wahome stated.
Why James Maina Ng’ang’a needed to understand about the Affordable Housing program
According to CS Wahome, her ministry’s goal is ambitious yet achievable: to deliver 1 million housing units in the next five years, reaching over 15 million Kenyans directly and indirectly.
“This effort also aligns with Article 43 of the Kenyan Constitution, which guarantees every citizen the right to accessible and adequate housing,” explained CS Wahome, adding that Apostle Ng’ang’a’s visit was both inspiring and impactful.
“His interest in understanding the program reflects the growing awareness and support from various sectors of society. During our discussion, I offered to guide him through the process of acquiring affordable housing and educate him on the program’s structure and benefits,” she said.
City Pastor Apostle James Maina Ng’ang’a pays a courtesy visit to Housing Cabinet Secretary Hon. Alice Wahome, commits to spread the good gospel of Affordable Housing. This comes days after Apostle Ng’ang’a’s controversial remarks about Affordable Housing.
Following the meeting, Apostle Ng’ang’a reportedly passionately shared, emphasising the transformative nature of the program while demonstrating his commitment. He has offered to mobilise people, help them make deposits, and support them as they continue with the payment plans.
“Bwana amegeuza yote, imekuwa ni baraka. Kukataliwa sio mwisho!”. (God has changed everything; it has been a blessing. Being rejected is not the end.)
Y News understands that affordable housing in Kenya is a significant issue, with the Constitution guaranteeing every person the right to accessible and adequate housing.
The government has initiated various projects, aiming to build 250,000 housing units to address this need.
How televangelist and pastor James Maina Ng’ang’a humiliated Milka Moraa
These efforts are part of a broader strategy to improve housing availability, particularly for low- and middle-income families.
The meeting comes barely a week after Milka Moraa, once the subject of online debate after a humiliating encounter with Pastor Ng’ang’a, secured a unit in the newly completed Mukuru Affordable Housing Project in Nairobi.
Moraa’s struggles first gained national attention after a video of her plea for assistance went viral.
Desperate and locked out of her house over unpaid rent, she turned to Pastor Ng’ang’a for help.
Instead of receiving aid, she was met with harsh words, as the preacher dismissed her and suggested she should apply for an affordable house if she could not afford her rent.
The incident sparked widespread condemnation, but it also galvanised goodwill from well-wishers, including police officer Sammy Ondimu Ngare.
