NAIROBI, Kenya– Radisson Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Clinton Thom as the new General Manager of Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upper Hill, a move that signals the group’s renewed focus on expanding leadership capacity across East Africa’s hospitality sector.
Thom, a seasoned hotelier with over 20 years of experience, joins the Nairobi team after a successful tenure at Radisson Collection Hotel, Waterfront Cape Town.
There, he oversaw the brand’s transformation from Radisson Blu, led a partial refurbishment, and helped the hotel achieve record-breaking food and beverage revenues and a top-ranked Revenue Generation Index (RGI) score.
Notably, Thom’s leadership kept the Cape Town property fully operational through the COVID-19 pandemic without any staff retrenchments a rare achievement in the global hospitality industry.
“We are delighted that after an illustrious career with Radisson Hotel Group, Clinton continues to share his knowledge and passion with our colleagues at Radisson Blu Nairobi Upper Hill,” said Sandra Kneubuhler, Radisson’s Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa.
He began his career in operations and rose through the ranks in food and beverage, revenue management, and rooms division.
He now takes the reins at the 271-room Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upper Hill, a key conferencing and business property with 14 meeting rooms, a 590-square-metre ballroom, and four dining outlets.
“I look forward to working closely with the team to drive operational excellence, enhance guest satisfaction, and contribute to Nairobi’s continued growth as a regional business hub,” Thom said.
His appointment comes as Kenya’s hospitality industry continues to rebound, buoyed by growing business travel and international events.
