KILIFI, Kenya – Kilifi County woke up to tragedy on Christmas Day after a speeding car ploughed through a crowded pedestrian walkway along the Mariakani-Kaloleni road, killing three people and injuring three others.
The accident occurred near the Dam Hotel at around 5 a.m., police confirmed.
The victims, identified as a woman and two men, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Those injured, including the driver of the vehicle, were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Authorities have since moved the bodies to the mortuary, pending autopsies and further procedures.
Preliminary reports indicate that the circumstances leading to the crash remain unclear.
