Four Killed, One Injured in Kericho-Awasi Road Crash

Date:

KERICHO, Kenya – Four people lost their lives on Friday in a tragic accident along the Kericho-Awasi road near Pala. The crash involved a private Nissan Vanette that veered off the road and landed in a ditch, according to police reports.

The accident claimed the lives of the car’s male driver, another male passenger, and two female passengers.

A fifth passenger survived but sustained serious injuries, including a fractured left hand. The survivor is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene, moving the bodies to the Ortho mortuary and towing the vehicle to a nearby police station for further investigation.

Authorities have launched a probe into the incident.

This latest tragedy comes amid a worrying spike in fatal road accidents across the country.

In the past week alone, road crashes have claimed 20 lives, including seven fatalities on the Narok-Mai Mahiu road and four in Mariakani, Kilifi County.

Kenya continues to grapple with high road accident statistics, with over 4,000 fatalities recorded annually, leaving thousands more injured and families devastated.

Police are urging motorists to exercise caution, especially during this period of increased travel.
