George Sedah Replaces Adamson Bungei as the Nairobi Regional Commander

NAIROBI, Kenya – George Sedah, former Coast Regional police commander, has been transferred to Nairobi, replacing the long-serving commander Adamson Bungei in the recent restructuring of the National Police Service (NPS).

Bungei has been recalled to the police headquarters, replacing William Yiampoy as the director of operations.

In another major change, Kiambu police commander Michael Nyaga Muchiri has been appointed as the new NPS spokesperson, replacing Dr. Resila Onyango.

Dr. Onyango has been transferred to the Diplomatic Police Unit as the commandant.

Kwale County police commander Ali Nuno has been promoted to Coast Regional Police Commander, succeeding Sedah.

Nuno is famous for his tough stance on crime, especially in regions affected by gangs wielding crude weapons like pangas, and is expected to tackle criminal activities in Mombasa.

There were also several changes at the Director of Investigations, with the head of legal, Amos Omuga, moving to the NPS headquarters at Jogoo House, maintaining his legal role.

Dr. Michael Wanderi, who led the National Forensics Laboratory at DCI headquarters, has been appointed director of human capital at Vigilance House, replacing Rosemary Kuraru, who now heads the National Forensics Laboratory.

The head of the Serious Crime Unit at DCI, Michael Sang, has been appointed as the regional head of DCI in Eastern.

The Eastern regional head of DCI, Daniel Korir, has been appointed as the commandant of the Kenya Airports Police Unit (KAPU).

Judy Jebet has also been appointed the new head of community policing, replacing John Gachomo, who has been redeployed to police headquarters.

According to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, the changes in various departments are meant to enhance service operations.
