UDA MP Says CS Muturi To Be Fired: “He Should Have Resigned”

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Justin Muturi’s job is on the line, according to Belgut MP Nelson Koech, who claims the outspoken minister will be sacked “any time from today.”

Koech accused Muturi of openly challenging President William Ruto by criticizing the government’s handling of abductions and extrajudicial killings.

“He is daring the president to fire him. He has called for it, and you will see it. In a week or two, CS Muturi will be home. He will be fired,” Koech stated.

Muturi, a former Attorney General, has been vocal about a surge in enforced disappearances, particularly of young men.

His recent remarks, urging President Ruto to take decisive action, have reportedly unsettled some within the government.

Speaking at City Mortuary last Friday, where the bodies of two young men abducted in Mlolongo were found, Muturi condemned the killings and called for urgent intervention.

“This is murder most foul. It is only fair that, at this point, the country shelves any other business to discuss this matter of abductions and extrajudicial killings,” he said.

His stance has sparked tensions within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

While some lawmakers, including Defense CS Aden Duale, have suggested he should resign, allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have defended him, accusing his critics of attempting to silence dissent within government ranks.

Muturi has dismissed speculation about his removal, maintaining that addressing security concerns is more important than political maneuvering.
