Absa Bank Kenya Named Africa’s Top Employer For 4thYear Running

NAIROBI, Kenya – Absa Bank Kenya has been recognised as Africa’s top employer by the prestigious Top Employer Institute for the fourth consecutive year, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in human capital practices within the financial services sector.

The bank also secured Top Employer certification in five other African markets—South Africa, Zambia, Ghana, Botswana, and, for the first time, Mauritius—underscoring its continent-wide commitment to fostering a high-performance and inclusive workplace.

Absa Bank Kenya Managing Director and CEO, Abdi Mohamed, hailed the recognition as a testament to the bank’s efforts to cultivate a diverse and future-fit workforce.

“By investing in our people and fostering a culture of belonging, well-being, and excellence, we continue to enhance the employee experience and strengthen our employer brand,” said Mohamed. “We have also taken deliberate steps to enhance our work environment by prioritising psychological safety, diversity, and inclusion across all business units.”

The Top Employer Institute highlighted Absa Bank Kenya’s strong performance in key areas, with notable improvements in Leadership (+20%), Sustainability (+17.05%), Diversity and Inclusion (+4.60%), Purpose and Value (+4.29%), and Employee Listening (+31.72%).

These metrics positioned the bank above industry benchmarks and reaffirmed its standing as an employer of choice.

Absa’s Chief People Officer, Mumbi Kahindo, described the certification as a milestone in the bank’s journey towards setting industry standards in human capital practices.

“This achievement underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering a workplace where excellence thrives. It is also a testament to the dedication of our entire team and reaffirms Absa’s position as a leading employer in the financial sector,” Kahindo stated.
