Mudavadi to Reaffirm Kenya’s Commitment to Human Rights at UN Conference in Geneva

Date:

GENEVA, Switzerland – Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Minister,  Musalia Mudavadi, has arrived in Geneva to participate in the 58th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC58), set to take place in February.

At the high-level gathering, which brings together global leaders, diplomats, and human rights advocates,  he is expected to deliver Kenya’s national statement, reaffirming the country’s dedication to human rights, peace, and security.

His address will highlight Kenya’s ongoing efforts in democratic governance, conflict resolution, and sustainable development.

Kenya has long positioned itself as a key player in regional and global human rights discussions.

The government has emphasized its commitment to international human rights principles, especially in tackling emerging global challenges such as climate change, migration, and conflict resolution.

Beyond the main conference, Mudavadi will engage in a series of bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening Kenya’s diplomatic ties.

Among the key engagements is a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, where discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

Kenya is expected to push for the establishment of a Multi-Country OHCHR Office in Nairobi, further cementing its role as a regional hub for human rights advocacy.

The HRC58 session provides a critical platform for global collaboration, and Kenya’s participation signals its unwavering commitment to human rights both nationally and internationally.

Mudavadi’s engagements are expected to reinforce Kenya’s position as a diplomatic leader in Africa, advocating for justice, equality, and sustainable peace on the global stage.
