NAIROBI, Kenya — Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu will remain behind bars after the High Court denied his request for bail pending appeal.
The court ruled that Waititu failed to present compelling reasons for his release, despite his claims of health concerns.
Waititu argued that his health conditions required specialized care outside prison.
However, the court countered that correctional facilities are equipped with medical services, and in severe cases, inmates can be referred to a hospital.
This ruling aligns with past cases where courts have rejected medical grounds as a basis for bail unless clear proof of inadequate treatment is provided.
