NAIROBI, Kenya – Haiti’s President Fritz Alphonse Jean has visited the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission camp to condole with Kenyan police officers, following the brutal killing of a Kenyan officer during an operation against gangs.

Constable Benedict Kairu was shot dead in an ambush on Tuesday, an attack that has raised concerns over the safety of the MSS troops deployed to restore order in Haiti.

The officer’s body remains missing, and a search mission is underway.

He urged the officers to remain resilient and dedicated despite the challenges posed by Haiti’s worsening gang violence.
