Narok: IPOA Launches Probe Into Police-Linked Assault of Woman in Public

NAROK, Kenya – The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has initiated an independent investigation into the alleged assault of a woman by a police officer in Narok.

This comes after images circulated on social media showing the woman with injuries reportedly inflicted by the police.

The incident, which was reported to IPOA on Monday, April 21, 2025, has prompted immediate action.

Preliminary findings by IPOA’s Rapid Response team indicate that the victim is currently receiving medical treatment at Narok Level 5 Hospital.

IPOA, which is mandated under Cap 86 of the Laws of Kenya, has emphasized its commitment to conducting the investigation impartially.

The Authority, dedicated to ensuring police accountability as per Article 244 of the Constitution, will make appropriate recommendations based on the findings.

Chairperson Ahmed Issack Hassan reassured the public that IPOA’s investigations are fair, independent, and impartial.

The Authority remains steadfast in its duty to hold officers accountable for any breach of law.
