MultiChoice Talent Factory: Nurturing the Next Generation of African Filmmakers

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Since its inception in 2018, the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) has become a beacon of hope for aspiring filmmakers across Africa.

By welcoming 60 talented students each year, MTF provides an unparalleled platform for nurturing and developing talent, offering a gateway to the entertainment industry.

This program isn’t just about honing skills; it’s about creating opportunities, building networks, and turning dreams into reality.

MTF’s approach to training is as dynamic as the industry it serves. Participants are immersed in rigorous, hands-on training programs that cover everything from cinematography to sound design.

But what really sets MTF apart is the mentorship from industry experts. Imagine learning the art of filmmaking from some of the best minds in the business, gaining practical experience that’s essential for success in today’s competitive environment.

MTF ensures that top-performing students get further opportunities for growth through mentorship and internships with global partners like the New York Film Academy and Zee World.

These experiences are about stepping into real-world scenarios, gaining exposure, and building a portfolio that stands out.

By the end of the program, graduates walk away with an accredited qualification and the chance to showcase their work on MultiChoice platforms, offering a springboard to future success.

MTF’s commitment to storytelling goes beyond technical skills. Africa is a continent rich in culture, history, and untold stories, and MTF is dedicated to bringing these narratives to the forefront.

By investing in local talent, MultiChoice is not just creating content that resonates with African audiences; it’s producing work that captures the attention of the global market.

The success of MTF’s alumni speaks volumes about the program’s impact. Just last year, five graduates secured nominations at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), a testament to the quality of the training they received.

Many MTF alumni now hold key positions in the industry, contributing to major productions like Salem, County 49, and Mum vs Wife

The program’s influence is perhaps best illustrated by the achievements of Habtamu S. Mekonen, an MTF graduate from East Africa, who recently won an International Emmy Award for a short film he produced and directed.

But MTF’s impact doesn’t end with film production. The program also fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, encouraging graduates to start their own projects and businesses.

To date, 30 alumni have registered their own production houses, creating jobs and contributing to the economy.

This entrepreneurial drive is a key part of MTF’s mission, empowering young Africans to become catalysts for economic growth and cultural enrichment in their communities.

As applications open for the next intake, MTF invites aspiring filmmakers to seize this incredible opportunity to ignite their careers.

With a closing date of September 15, 2024, now is the time to take that first step towards a future in film and television. Are you ready to unleash your talent and step into the spotlight? Visit the MultiChoice Talent Factory application page to learn more and submit your entry.
