Powering Up: $13.4 Billion in Investments Signed at the 2024 World Power Battery Conference

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- A powerful boost for the battery industry came this past weekend as 137 projects, with a total investment of about $13.4 billion, were signed at the 2024 World Power Battery Conference.

The event, which kicked off in Yibin, Sichuan Province, brought together nearly 400 industry experts and company executives from around the globe, all converging with one goal in mind—accelerating the growth of the power battery industry and supporting green, low-carbon development.

The World Power Battery Conference, hosted by Sichuan’s provincial government, aims to create an international platform for cooperation in the power battery sector.

The event isn’t just about signing contracts; it’s about propelling the industry forward with high-quality projects that can significantly impact the global market.

Among the signed agreements, a staggering 133 projects, worth a combined 84.55 billion yuan, will be rooted in Yibin.

This city is fast becoming a key player in China’s power battery industry, thanks to strategic investments and a robust industrial framework.

China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) industry has seen explosive growth, resulting in the development of a comprehensive industrial chain.

Yibin, with its focus on the power battery sector, is capitalizing on this momentum.

When fully operational, these projects are expected to generate over 100 billion yuan in annual output value and create more than 20,000 jobs, positioning Sichuan as a central hub for the global power battery market.

This isn’t the first time the World Power Battery Conference has made headlines. Since its inauguration in 2022, the event has already facilitated the signing of over 100 projects, with a combined contracted investment exceeding 200 billion yuan.

The momentum from previous years set the stage for this year’s remarkable achievements.

As China continues to lead in the NEV industry, the conference highlights the country’s commitment to fostering innovation and driving sustainable growth in the power battery sector.

With billions in investments and a clear focus on green, sustainable technologies, the event is setting the pace for the next wave of innovation in the power battery industry.
