NAIROBI, Kenya- In a move that signals its commitment to sustainability, HACO Industries has entered a strategic partnership with Progreen Innovations to integrate greener energy solutions into its manufacturing processes.
The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is set to revolutionize HACO’s operations by introducing innovative solutions aimed at reducing both costs and environmental impact.
At the heart of this collaboration is Fuelsav, an eco-friendly poly-diesel produced by Progreen from converted plastic waste.
Verified by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority and the Kenya Bureau of Standards, this energy-efficient fuel will replace part of HACO’s conventional diesel usage.
By doing so, HACO not only reduces production costs but also slashes its carbon footprint—a win for both business and the planet.
Progreen’s poly-diesel has already demonstrated its effectiveness in industrial boilers and generators, as well as in vehicle trials.
As a result, HACO will enjoy exclusive client status, ensuring a steady supply of the fuel as Progreen scales up production.
HACO’s sustainability journey doesn’t stop at energy use. In a forward-thinking move, the company will also supply its plastic waste to Progreen for conversion into poly-diesel, creating a closed-loop system that turns waste into valuable energy.
This circular approach not only boosts operational efficiency but also positions HACO as a leader in sustainable manufacturing across East Africa.
“We are excited to partner with Progreen to drive our sustainability goals. This collaboration is a testament to how businesses can adopt circularity to enhance both operational efficiency and environmental stewardship,” said Mary-Ann Musangi, Managing Director of HACO Industries.
With this partnership, HACO and Progreen are setting a new standard for how corporations and SMEs can work together to achieve sustainability.
The partnership aligns with Kenya’s broader goal of sustainable industrialization, and the companies hope to inspire others in the industry to adopt green practices.
Eng. James Muritu, CEO of Progreen Innovations, highlighted the broader implications of the deal: “This partnership sets a precedent for impactful solutions that benefit both business and the planet. We are thrilled to work with HACO and contribute to a greener future.”
As part of the MoU, Progreen will provide HACO with transparent data on waste offset, fuel generated, and emissions avoided, ensuring measurable progress in environmental contributions.
The partnership offers a glimpse into a future where waste becomes opportunity and energy fuels sustainable growth.
