What are the Kenya Police Entry Requirements?

To become a police officer in Kenya, applicants must meet certain entry requirements set by the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

 According to the Kenya Police Service website, the following are the requirements for people to join the service;

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen
  • Must have a Kenya National Identity Card
  • Possess a minimum qualification of D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a D+ in either Kiswahili or English.
  • Minimum height 5 ft 8 inches (men) and 5 ft 3 inches (women)
  • Must be between 18 and 28 years for KCSE Examination certificate holders or its equivalent and up to 30 years for diploma and degree holders
  • Meets requirements of chapter six of the Constitution
  • Must be physically, medically, and mentally fit
  •  Has no pending criminal action or criminal convictions
  •  Female candidates must not be pregnant at recruitment and during the entire training period
