CIB Kenya Appoints Abhinav Nehra as New CEO and MD

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – CIB Kenya has appointed Abhinav Nehra as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, ushering in a new chapter of growth and innovation for the bank.

With over three decades of experience in banking and payments across Africa, Asia, and emerging markets, Nehra is poised to lead the institution into a transformative era.

Abhinav Nehra brings a wealth of expertise from top-tier global institutions like CitiGroup, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Network International, and Ecobank Transnational.

At Ecobank, he spearheaded the restructuring of the group’s retail and commercial banking operations, overseeing activities across 34 African countries.

He also played a pivotal role in UBA’s expansion, growing its retail financial services from two to 16 markets.

His leadership extends to building Africa’s largest “Payment as a Service” company at Network International and transforming CitiFinancial India into the group’s most profitable consumer finance franchise in emerging markets.

“Abhinav is a proven leader with a stellar track record in driving innovation and growth,” said Tom Gitogo, Chairman of CIB Kenya’s Board.

“His expertise aligns perfectly with CIB Kenya’s vision to deliver value to clients and achieve our ambitious goals. We are confident in his ability to steer the bank toward new heights of success,” he added.

Nehra’s appointment reflects CIB Kenya’s commitment to financial inclusion and innovation in Kenya’s dynamic banking landscape.

The country has become a hub for digital transformation in financial services, with mobile money platforms like M-Pesa leading the charge.

With Nehra’s leadership, the bank aims to deliver cutting-edge solutions tailored to enhance clients’ financial experiences while fostering inclusivity.

During his tenure at Network International, Nehra championed digital payment systems that expanded access to financial services for underserved populations.

This focus on bridging gaps in financial accessibility aligns seamlessly with Kenya’s growing emphasis on inclusive banking.

Abhinav Nehra expressed his enthusiasm for the journey ahead.

“It’s an honor to join CIB Kenya at such a pivotal moment. Together with the talented team here, we’ll focus on innovative solutions that not only elevate our clients’ financial experience but also make a meaningful impact in Kenya’s evolving banking sector,” he said.

With Nehra at the helm, CIB Kenya aims to set a new benchmark for banking in the region, leveraging his strategic vision to create value-driven solutions for clients.
