d.light Unveils Loyalty Program for Off-Grid Solar Customers

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- In a bold move to support its customers during challenging times, d.light has launched a pioneering customer loyalty program, marking a first in the off-grid solar industry.

The “d.light Points Program,” promises to reward loyal customers with tangible benefits, aiming to enhance their access to solar energy.

The d.light Points Program is designed to offer customers significant value by rewarding consistent payments towards their PayGo solar products.

As customers make regular payments, they accumulate points that can be redeemed for discounts on future purchases or exciting rewards like free power days.

d.light’s innovative approach aims to reach over 500,000 customers by the end of 2024, with plans to expand the program to Uganda, Tanzania, and Nigeria later this year.

The introduction of this loyalty program follows a year of extensive customer research, where d.light engaged with users through focus groups, surveys, and interviews.

The company prioritized customer feedback, ensuring the rewards offered align with what users truly value. Customers can easily track their points and redeem rewards via SMS, USSD messaging, or the d.light mobile app, making the program accessible and user-friendly.

Donal Connolly, Director of Credit at d.light, highlighted the program’s significance in light of recent economic challenges.

“Our customers have had a tough time lately,” Connolly noted, referencing the high inflation rates and income instability in climate-affected regions where d.light operates.

He emphasized that the loyalty program is not just about rewards but about providing practical support to customers who rely on solar energy for their daily needs.

“Our customers come first here at d.light, and we want to help them deal with these pressures and acknowledge their loyalty and support as well,” Connolly added.

The program allows customers to earn points by making payments over consecutive days, which can then be used for future purchases or to enjoy free days of power—a direct response to the needs expressed by d.light’s customer base.

With the launch of the d.light Points Program, the company is setting a new standard in the off-grid solar market.

By combining customer loyalty with practical rewards, d.light is not only enhancing the user experience but also making solar energy more accessible and affordable for communities across Africa.

This innovative initiative underscores d.light’s commitment to its customers, providing them with tools to navigate economic challenges while continuing to access reliable solar energy that improves their day-to-day lives.
