NAIROBI, Kenya- Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) landed a prestigious title, being crowned Africa’s Leading Airport at the World Travel Awards.
The accolade, which highlights the airport’s growing reputation for excellence, was presented to the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) team during a vibrant ceremony in Diani.
Acting Managing Director Henry Ogoye and Airport Manager Selina Gor accepted the award on behalf of KAA, signaling a proud moment for Kenya.
JKIA outshined several key competitors, including South Africa’s Cape Town International and O.R. Tambo, Morocco’s Casablanca Mohammed V International, and Rwanda’s Kigali International Airport.
This victory didn’t come easily—JKIA faced stiff competition from airports across the continent. The KAA credited the hard work of its team and the support of travelers and partners for making this milestone possible.
In a statement, KAA emphasized, “We’re proud of our team’s hard work and dedication that made this achievement possible, and we thank all our passengers and partners for their continued support.”
JKIA’s win at the World Travel Awards is a clear indicator of its upward trajectory in the aviation world.
As more investments and improvements roll in, the airport is poised to become a leading player not just in Africa, but globally. For Kenya, this could be a win for tourism, trade, and international relations, with JKIA acting as the gateway to East Africa.
