Kenyan Tech Leader Shiro Theuri Appointed Global CTO at Glovo

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- In an exciting leap for African representation in tech, Kenyan software engineer Shiro Theuri has been appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Glovo, the Barcelona-based global delivery platform.

Theuri made the announcement on LinkedIn, adding Glovo to her impressive roster of tech leadership roles.

Joining Glovo in 2022, she relocated from Nairobi to the company’s headquarters in Spain, where she’s been instrumental in driving the company’s tech strategy.

Before landing her role at Glovo, Theuri held several high-ranking engineering positions across various startups and small businesses.

Notably, she was VP of Engineering at Sendy, an end-to-end fulfillment platform, and CTO at FrontlineSMS, a mobile campaign messaging service.

These roles helped hone her leadership skills, preparing her for the global spotlight at Glovo, one of the world’s leading on-demand delivery services.

In her LinkedIn post announcing her new position, Theuri shared her vision: “I am thrilled to play a key role at Glovo and lead innovation across the organization. My focus will be on delivering excellence in customer experience, while shaping tech and data strategies to scale our platform in all markets.”

As CTO, Theuri is keen on not only scaling Glovo’s tech infrastructure but also championing diversity in technology.

As one of the few women of African descent in a top global tech role, she aims to use her platform to mentor others, especially women in tech.

“I’m excited to empower more women and build the best technology team in Europe,” Theuri emphasized.

Theuri’s academic background is equally impressive. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Egerton University and a Master’s degree in Computer Software Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

Her leadership is expected to enhance customer experience, optimize operational efficiency, and boost Glovo’s technological innovation in a highly competitive industry.

With this new chapter, Theuri not only solidifies her position as a leading figure in global tech but also represents a broader push for diversity and inclusion in the technology sector.
