NAIROBI, Kenya- M-Kopa, a fintech giant transforming digital access in Kenya, has reached a milestone, now serving over 3 million customers and sustaining more than 16,000 jobs.

As revealed in its 2024 Impact Report, M-Kopa has also contributed Sh17.2 billion to Kenya’s economy in direct and indirect taxes, spanning corporate tax, VAT, import taxes, and PAYE, paid to the Kenya Revenue Authority.

The company’s efforts to bridge digital and financial divides are advancing economic inclusion and growth across the nation.

M-Kopa’s financial model is simple yet transformative: offering affordable access to smartphones, digital loans, and e-motorbike financing, making it easier for Kenyans to enter the digital economy.

According to Martin Kingori, General Manager of M-Kopa Kenya, the company connects individuals while providing accessible and affordable financial services, empowering millions of Kenyans to achieve economic independence.

“M-Kopa Kenya is proud to be a driving force in expanding economic opportunities for millions of Kenyans and making a significant contribution to the economy of the country,” he shared.

For individuals like boda boda riders and market vendors, M-Kopa’s flexible daily payment model aligns with their income streams, enabling them to make daily micro-payments, establish a credit history, and access financial resources otherwise out of reach.

Job creation has also been a key focus for M-Kopa, with 325 new positions opened since 2023 in its local smartphone assembly factory, primarily benefiting young Kenyans and first-time job seekers.

M-Kopa plans to grow this workforce to 500 by 2025 and aims to increase its sales agent count from 14,000 to 20,000 by the same year, enhancing economic opportunities for more Kenyans.
