Northern Kenya Investment Conference to Spotlight Economic Potential in 10 Counties

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Next week, the third annual Northern Kenya Impact Investment Conference, organized by USAID Kuza, will be held in Nairobi from October 29-30, 2024.

The event aims to bring economic growth to ten counties in Northern Kenya by connecting local businesses with potential investors and showcasing the untapped potential across Garissa, Isiolo, Lamu, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, Tana River, Turkana, Wajir, and West Pokot.

Under the theme, “Unveiling Opportunities: Redefining Northern Kenya as an Investable Destination,” the conference will feature sessions dedicated to attracting investments and exploring initiatives to foster economic growth and sustainability.

Covering 65pc of Kenya’s landmass, Northern Kenya represents a significant but underutilized area for economic expansion.

The forum will serve as a meeting ground for MSMEs, investors, financial institutions, development agencies, and government officials committed to bringing sustainable economic development to the region.

USAID Kuza has been pivotal in creating economic opportunities in Northern Kenya by supporting local enterprises and county governments with technical assistance and capacity-building initiatives.

Through targeted training, they’ve empowered MSMEs to effectively pitch their business strategies, expansion plans, and funding needs, facilitating the growth and resilience of local economies.

A key part of the conference will be showcasing investment-ready enterprises in sectors like climate resilience, digital innovation, and sustainable agriculture.

This year’s sessions will offer practical insights on making Northern Kenya a competitive investment destination, with a focus on impact-driven projects.

MSMEs, an essential driver of economic resilience in Northern Kenya, will have the opportunity to engage directly with investors and expand their networks, an approach that is designed to translate conference discussions into actionable business partnerships.

As Kenya continues its journey toward economic empowerment, the Northern Kenya Impact Investment Conference will amplify opportunities for growth and prosperity in these ten counties, positioning the region as ripe for strategic, impact-driven investments.
