Speaking at the sidelines of the AfCFTA Business Forum, held from October 9-11 at the Kigali Convention Centre, Lamptey stressed the need for seamless payment systems to support the movement of goods and services across African borders and internationally.
“Payment platforms are essential for business success, enabling smooth transactions and ensuring timely payments for goods delivered,” Lamptey noted.
He highlighted PayAngel’s role in supporting AfCFTA’s vision of fostering intra-African trade.
“At PayAngel, we have the expertise and use cases in cross-border payments from the African diaspora back into Africa, making trade more efficient,” he added.
The AfCFTA Business Forum, themed “Dare to Invent the Future of AfCFTA,” focuses on enhancing regional value chains and supply networks to unlock Africa’s trading potential.
It brings together key public and private sector stakeholders, including multinational companies.
PayAngel’s participation aligns with AfCFTA’s objectives of enhancing cross-border transactions, and the company’s integration into the agreement’s protocols ensures seamless payments between the diaspora and African nations.
Lamptey further emphasized that their expertise in handling cross-border payments and remittances positions PayAngel as a vital player in Africa’s evolving trade landscape.
During the forum, Lamptey referenced an earlier engagement with Rwanda’s new Trade Minister, Hon. Prudence Sebahizi, and praised the minister’s commitment to furthering trade partnerships across Africa.
PayAngel, headquartered in the UK with subsidiaries in the US, Canada, Ghana, Australia, and across Europe, has steadily expanded its cross-border payment solutions, catering to Africans and fostering trade opportunities between the continent and its diaspora.
