NAIROBI, Kenya- In an exciting collaboration with Visa, Safaricom has awarded four lucky winners an all-expenses-paid trip to Paris for the ongoing Summer Olympic Games.
The winners, selected through the MPESA GlobalPay promotion, are set to experience the thrill of the Olympics firsthand, enjoying flights, accommodation, food, drinks, and stadium tickets for various events.
The four fortunate individuals who won the trip are Mwaniki Munuhe from Nyahururu, Abdirahaman Faysal, Abdinasir Barre, and Michael Chege Kariuki from Nairobi.
These winners earned their spots by using the MPESA GlobalPay Virtual Visa Card for transactions, qualifying for the weekly draws, and ultimately securing their tickets to Paris.
Each winner will be accompanied by a companion of their choice, allowing them to share this unforgettable experience with a loved one.
Michael Chege, one of the winners, expressed his excitement: “I am a huge fan of the Olympics, but I have never attended any Olympic games in person. This will be a thrilling and historic moment for me. I believe this is the best gift ever Safaricom has offered me. I hope to enjoy and interact with some of my favourite athletes from Kenya and other parts of the world. A big thanks to Safaricom and Visa for making this possible.”
Beyond creating opportunities for its customers, Safaricom is also showing robust support for Team Kenya.
The telecom giant has committed Ksh. 30 million in cash and kind, including travel insurance for athletes, airtime, and data bundles.
Additionally, Safaricom has organized financial literacy workshops for athletes, ensuring they are well-prepared not just for their competitions, but also for their future beyond the stadium.
Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom CEO, highlighted the company’s role: “We are excited for the four winners who will be traveling to Paris for the Olympic Games on a fully catered trip courtesy of our partnership with Visa. We believe in the power of sports to inspire and unite people, and we are honored to offer Kenyans the opportunity to support their favorite athletes in person.”
“This sponsorship also reflects our commitment to supporting our athletes by empowering them with technological and financial tools. They have worked hard to prepare for the Olympics, and this is our way of ensuring that they are well-prepared beyond the stadium, thanks to the financial literacy workshops,” he added.
As the winners prepare for their memorable journey to Paris, a few Kenyan companies continue to demonstrate their commitment to enhancing customer experiences and empowering athletes.
