NAIROBI, Kenya- Kenyan students, the wait is over!
The application portal for scholarships and loans for those joining universities and TVET institutions opens today.
Originally slated to open on Saturday, June 15, the launch was delayed due to the Eid ul-Adha celebrations.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu made the announcement on Monday, ensuring that students and their families had clarity on the new timeline.
“We wish to assure all parents, guardians, and students that the Government will allow sufficient time for all eligible learners to apply for the funding in the form of scholarships and loans, in the spirit of leaving no one behind,” said CS Machogu.
The HEF Portal: Streamlining Financial Aid
Last July, Machogu introduced the Higher Education Financing (HEF) Portal, revolutionizing how students apply for scholarships, loans, and bursaries.
This portal was designed to directly channel higher education funds to individual students, simplifying the process and increasing accessibility.
To be eligible for these funds, students must have been placed by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to pursue an undergraduate degree, diploma, craft certificate, or artisan course at one of Kenya’s accredited public universities or TVET colleges.
