Shalina Healthcare Marks 40 Years with Expansion Momentum in Kenya and Africa

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Shalina Healthcare is commemorating 40 years of delivering affordable, quality healthcare solutions across Africa with a renewed commitment to expand its footprint in Kenya and other emerging markets on the continent.

As part of its latest growth strategy, the pharmaceutical company is preparing to introduce its diagnostics division in Kenya.

Shalina emphasized that the ongoing expansion is a continuation of its mission to make healthcare more inclusive and accesible.

The new vertical aims to offer affordable, technology-driven medical testing services, which the company says will help lower the cost of essential prescription diagnostics for underserved communities.

“Our focus remains on improving long-term health outcomes by ensuring reliable and cost-efficient medical solutions are within reach for more people,”said its CEO Shalina Cliford.

Alongside this milestone, Shalina is celebrating the centennial anniversary of Kaluma, a beloved Kenyan brand within its product lineup.

To mark the occasion, the company has refreshed the Kaluma range and launched the “Kaluma@100” campaign a nationwide community outreach initiative aimed at strengthening brand affinity and contributing to local health and wellness.

Shalina Healthcare entered the Kenyan market in 2018 through the acquisition of established brands from Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company (PMC).

In 2023, its presence was significantly boosted by the acquisition of Orange Pharma Limited (OPL), cementing its place among the country’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies.

“The 2023 acquisition of Orange Pharma Limited accelerated our growth trajectory, establishing Shalina Healthcare as a leading pharmaceutical company in Kenya,” the company added.

Its diverse portfolio includes prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, and consumer healthcare goods, all distributed through a robust national supply network.
