NAIROBI, Kenya- Uber Eats turned the spotlight on Kenya’s top-notch merchants at the annual Uber Eats Merchant Awards.
This year’s ceremony didn’t just celebrate food but also hailed the rising stars of retail, grocery, and wellness. It was a night dedicated to the heroes shaping the digital delivery revolution.
From small family-owned eateries to large-scale grocery chains, the Uber Eats Merchant Awards brought together a diverse range of businesses.
These merchants have consistently delivered stellar service to Kenyan consumers through the Uber Eats platform.
Nakampe Molewa, Uber Eats General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasized the importance of these partners, stating, “We are proud to work with such incredible merchants who consistently go above and beyond to deliver exceptional food, goods, and services.”
The awards, now in their third year, are powered by consumer votes and operational performance data from the platform. Beyond recognizing excellence, they reflect the growing trust between merchants and Uber Eats to meet evolving consumer needs.
While initially synonymous with restaurant deliveries, Uber Eats has grown into a one-stop delivery platform.
It now caters to a broader audience with essentials like groceries, pharmaceuticals, beauty products, and even alcohol.
Molewa added, “Our expansion into grocery and retail highlights our commitment to offering more to our consumers while empowering our merchant partners to thrive.”
This year’s ceremony introduced categories like Best African Restaurant, Best Burger, and Best Coffee Cafe, showcasing Uber Eats’ embrace of Kenya’s rich culinary diversity.
Java House clinched the People’s Choice Online Food Delivery Restaurant of the Year, while Artcaffe Market was crowned People’s Choice Grocery and Retail.
The Uber Eats Merchant Awards are more than just accolades—they’re a nod to the resilience and adaptability of Kenya’s hospitality and retail players.
As Molewa aptly noted, these businesses are the backbone of Uber Eats’ success, reflecting the dynamism of Kenya’s digital economy.
The Merchant Awards not only celebrate the best of today but also inspire the merchants of tomorrow. With ambitious expansion plans and an ever-evolving platform, Uber Eats is firmly cementing its role in Kenya’s hospitality and retail transformation.
