NAIROBI, Kenya – A domestic dispute in Githurai, Kiambu County, has left a 16-year-old girl dead and her mother seriously injured after a man allegedly attacked his family in a violent outburst.

Elius Jacob Katanga, 45, reportedly stabbed his teenage daughter in the back after an altercation with his estranged wife, Teresia Wairimu, 45.

According to a report filed at Mwihoko Police Station, Katanga stormed his family’s home late Monday night following a separation caused by marital differences.

Witness accounts indicate that Katanga forcibly took the couple’s 3-year-old son and attempted to leave the premises.

When Wairimu resisted, he allegedly pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the head.

Their teenage daughter, who screamed for help, became the next target as Katanga turned on her, delivering a fatal stab to her back.

He fled the scene, leaving the boy unharmed.

Neighbors rushed the injured mother and daughter to Ruiru Sub-County Hospital.

Tragically, the teenager was pronounced dead upon arrival, while Wairimu, now in stable condition, continues to receive treatment for serious injuries.

Police investigators have since recovered a blood-stained knife believed to be the murder weapon.

The teenager’s body has been moved to Thika Level 5 Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy is scheduled.

Authorities are now intensifying efforts to locate Katanga, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

The incident has left the community reeling, with many expressing shock over the brutal attack.

Police have urged anyone with information about Katanga’s location to report to the nearest station as investigations continue.
