Uhuru deserves more accolades for cheering on GenZ, not jeering

Date:

A story for the future sounds exactly just as it’s called: a story told later on. The story, however, has got to be impactful because why else would we tell a story in the future if it doesn’t meet the threshold?

A future story could also explore possible futures and how our choices now impact that future going forward.

Stories told in the future are often stories of struggle, perseverance, heartaches, and resilience. These make up the majority of everyday struggles towards a better goal. Better economic goals, however, are also entwined with better political goals, and politics is a topic that infuriates most, if not makes a fool out of most.

Gen Z has leveled up in holding politicians accountable as far as politics is concerned, which has certainly angered them in unprecedented ways. Despite the outrageous efforts to suppress the criticism, they are thriving in doing the most.

A number might have been fazed, but a good number are still determined to hold the government and its questionable choices answerable.

Among the stories that shape the future, there needs to be leaders who walk hand in hand with the struggle. Some might waver along the way, but those who stand out are the ones who remember what a great future needs: charisma and fortitude.

A course that is worthwhile to stick to and who exactly that future belongs to.

Kenyans are holding the government responsible, and a good number of top-tier politicians have wavered and chickened out during the controversies. A lot more vocal and really adored politicians have turned out spineless and tongue-tied about issues that need to be addressed.

Chicanery is at an all time high and cowardice a best suitable noun for a good number of leaders.

If a good leader is to be decided on, it’s in times of despair. The former president, Uhuru Kenyatta, exuded confidence in his belief in the Kenyan youth. In his words, we are the story of the future, and we should fight for our rights and the future. Nothing lasts, and everything is worth a fight.

While acknowledging that intimidation and fear sprout from the criticism, it’s a lot more reassuring of his sentiments given his position as a former president and the respect he’s garnered for himself for a number of reasons.

Given the history of politics, his words will be twisted all manner of ways over the weekend and blown out of proportion by the mediocre, but the message is home to all it was intended for.

Stories that make for the future need leaders who remind a generation of how that future could be attained, and right now, as Kenyans, all we can feel is conceited.
