NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenyan musician Kevin “Bahati” Kioko is moving forward with a DNA test as he responds to claims from a woman who says she is his biological mother.
The development comes after Judith Makokha publicly surfaced with emotional pleas and a willingness to undergo DNA testing to support her claim.
Makokha’s assertion that she left Bahati at a children’s home due to financial hardship and now wants reconciliation has captured public attention and ignited debates online about the singer’s early life narrative.
Bahati has previously acknowledged meeting Makokha, his alleged mother, in a tearful encounter where she asked for forgiveness and agreed to prove her claims through DNA testing.

The DNA test, which typically costs around Sh 27,000 at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) for paternity and relationship verification, is expected to provide scientific clarity on the claims.
Bahati recently met Makokha in a tearful encounter, during which she asked for forgiveness and agreed to undergo a DNA test to confirm her claim.
“I am so sorry for leaving you all these years. Please forgive me, my child. I want to prove to you that I am your mother,” the woman said.
“I am willing to take any test needed to show that I am your mother. I just want to reconcile with you. Please, my son, I have come to ask for your forgiveness. I did what I did out of hardship, not choice.”
