Lilian Ng’ang’a: Child Support is an Act of Unconditional Love, Not Access

NAIROBI, Kenya – Lilian Ng’ang’a is sharing her opinion on child support after media personality Oga Obinna opined that men should stop pay child support if they are being denied access to their children.

In a video, the mother of one says that while adult love is conditional, love between a parent and a child should be unconditional.

She argues that it is irresponsible for adults to fail to pay child support due to denied access; the parent would be deemed irresponsible as the kids are innocent.

“Adult love is conditional and I think this is why breakups hurt. When it comes to the parent-child relationship, the love is unconditional. If you decided not to send child support because of the kids, I think that is low-key irresponsible because the child is not aware of why you two didn’t work out,” she stated.

“Let’s just do our part whether you get along with the other parent or not and the child will grow and then you can tell them your story for them to decide who was wrong. Don’t deny your kid the basics or good life just because you don’t get along with the other parent. The kids are innocent.”

Obinna in his statement argued that in a situation where a parent is being denied access, the two parties should seek court’s directive.

“Men if you are being denied access to your child stop sending unnecessary support. (Courts give directives that sometimes aren’t followed by the mother to our children especially if you don’t do what they want, how and when they want. Eacha kilipa mrudi kirtini aambiwe tena, na akikataa tena you repeat.”
