Singer and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has come out strongly in defense of media personality and TikTok star Azziad Nasenya, following a heated online debate surrounding reports that the 25-year-old acquired a loan to purchase a house.
In a passionate Facebook post shared on Thursday, Akothee slammed critics for bullying Azziad over her financial decisions and instead praised the young influencer for her ambition and courage.
“Let’s stop bullying Azziad, pick a struggle! First and foremost, I respect and love this girl even more for dreaming bigger. That’s exactly the way to go. If your dreams don’t cause you sleepless nights, then they’re not big enough,” Akothee wrote.

The outspoken singer highlighted that Azziad’s ability to secure a loan and invest in property at her age was a commendable move. She contrasted the achievement with the challenges many people face in their mid-20s, noting that it was rare to see young people taking such bold financial steps.
“At just 25 years old, Azziad is able to acquire a loan and buy herself a house. That’s commendable! Some of us, at 25, had already survived 70 failed marriages, were raising children alone, torn between returning to our parents’ homes or sleeping on the streets — with zero bank accounts, no jobs, no certificates, and no direction,” she wrote.
Akothee argued that instead of condemning Azziad, Kenyans should celebrate her determination to build a stable future.
The singer did not mince her words as she addressed those criticizing Azziad’s decision. According to Akothee, taking loans is a common reality for millions of Kenyans, and Azziad should not be vilified for doing what many others do daily.
“Millions of Kenyans are living on loans and borrowed life, yet here’s a young woman taking responsibility for her own future. She’s not waiting to be rescued; she’s building herself up so she won’t be a burden to her parents or her future husband,” Akothee emphasized.
She also took a swipe at some of Azziad’s critics, saying many of them are struggling with basic financial obligations yet are quick to condemn others for attempting to build a better life.
“Some of the men criticizing her don’t even qualify for a motorbike loan and are still living in rental houses they can barely afford. Let’s celebrate courage, not condemn it,” she said.
Akothee’s message was not just about silencing critics but also about reassuring Azziad of her value and potential. In the same post, she directly addressed the radio host, offering encouragement and recognition.
“Azziad, I see you. Keep dreaming, keep building, you’re an inspiration to many,” Akothee wrote, accompanying the words with heart and clapping emojis.
She further urged the influencer not to be distracted by negativity: “Don’t stop, mommy, keep dreaming. I love you.”
The controversy began earlier this week after reports circulated that Azziad had taken out a significant bank loan to purchase a new home. Critics on social media accused her of biting off more than she could chew, with some suggesting that her financial decisions were reckless for someone her age.
However, many fans also rallied behind her, noting that investing in property — even through loans — was a bold step that showed foresight. The debate quickly grew into a trending topic, reflecting broader conversations in Kenya about youth, financial independence, and societal expectations.
