In the weeks following the death of gospel singer Betty Bayo, her daughter Sky Victor has continued to shed light on the shocking speed at which her mother’s health deteriorated.
Speaking with a rawness that has stirred deep public empathy, Sky has now revealed previously unknown details about her mother’s final days — including the moment Bayo suffered a stroke immediately after learning she had leukemia.
Betty Bayo’s death on November 10, 2025, at Kenyatta National Hospital, stunned the country. Known for her radiant personality, vibrant gospel career and strong online following, her passing raised many questions.
While the family had initially shared that she had been battling acute leukemia, Sky’s new account paints a fuller and far more devastating picture of how quickly the illness escalated.
According to Sky, her mother had gone to hospital after experiencing unusual symptoms, including excessive bleeding — one of the early signs doctors would later associate with leukemia. What followed was a whirlwind of medical tests, uncertainty and fear.
The turning point came when doctors gave Betty her results.

Sky recounts that her mother received her diagnosis on a Saturday, a moment she describes as “shocking and overwhelming” for someone who had walked into the hospital still hopeful that her symptoms were treatable.
But the diagnosis hit her so hard that before the family could fully process the news, Betty suffered a stroke.
Sky recalls seeing one side of her mother’s face begin to pull to one side, a sign of paralysis often associated with stroke. It was a moment that marked the beginning of a rapid downward spiral.
Betty Bayo’s daughter, Sky, spoke after her mother’s burial.Despite being only 11 years old, she said her motherHad promised to live to see her get married and meet her children.Weuh 😭 😭
From that point on, her mother’s condition declined swiftly, draining the family emotionally and mentally as they struggled to keep up with the medical emergencies that followed.
One of the most heartbreaking revelations Sky shared was that even after her mother’s death, the effects of the stroke were visible on her body.
That image, she says, is something she will never forget — a reminder of how deeply her mother suffered in such a short period.
In the days that followed the stroke, Bayo reportedly lost the ability to speak, according to family friend and gospel singer Shiru wa GP, who also spent time with her during her hospitalization.
Adding to the emotional weight of the moment, Sky revealed that her mother had expressed a desperate plea for blood, calling out for “A positive” — her blood type — in an attempt to stop the bleeding and stabilize her condition.
Pastor Victor Kanyari was seen gently comforting his daughter Sky at the hospital, following the heartbreaking loss of her mother, Betty Bayo.
It was one of the last coherent requests she made before her condition worsened.
Throughout this time, the family moved between medical facilities, seeking solutions as her health continued sinking.
Shiru wa GP, who had been with the family as Betty bled profusely, recalled how terrified the children were and how desperately they clung to the hope that their mother would somehow pull through.
For Sky, losing her mother at just 13 has been a crushing blow — one she has been open about publicly. Her emotional posts after the burial describing how much she misses her mother drew widespread sympathy across the country.
“I just want my mum,” she wrote at the time, admitting she was struggling to smile in public while feeling broken inside.
