The body of celebrated gospel singer Betty Bayo has been transferred to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital Mortuary, following her death on Monday afternoon.

The “Eleventh Hour” hitmaker succumbed to leukemia at around 1 p.m. while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), where she had been admitted since Friday after being transferred from AAR Hospital along Kiambu Road.

Family, friends, and fellow artists gathered at the KU Referral Hospital mortuary, struggling to come to terms with the loss of one of Kenya’s most influential gospel voices. Tears flowed freely as tributes poured in from across the country.

A Voice That Inspired Generations

Betty Bayo rose to fame with her uplifting track “Eleventh Hour,” a song whose message of hope and divine intervention resonated deeply among gospel listeners.

Her music became a staple in churches and homes, touching lives with its mix of faith, honesty, and encouragement.

Colleagues described her as “a humble, gifted and inspiring servant of God.”

“She leaves behind a strong legacy of spiritual encouragement and an enduring impact on the gospel music industry,” read a statement from her peers.

Plans Cut Short

Before her passing, Bayo had shared plans for a birthday getaway with her son, who shares the same birth date.

In a video posted online, she expressed excitement about spending quality time with him — plans that would sadly never materialize.

Beyond music, Betty Bayo made her mark in fashion, lifestyle, and content creation, inspiring a generation of young believers and creatives.

The gospel community continues to mourn a woman whose voice carried not just melodies, but prayers, testimonies, and hope.
