Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, 26, has publicly confirmed that he does not want to reconcile with his parents, former England football star David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, in an explosive social media statement that marks the latest chapter in a highly publicized family dispute.
In a lengthy message shared on his Instagram Stories, Brooklyn said he had tried for years to keep private matters out of the press, but felt compelled to speak out after what he described as continued misrepresentation of his side of the story.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private… I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled — I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he wrote.

Brooklyn accused his parents of controlling narratives in the media and placing what he called “countless lies” in the press to preserve what he termed a public image of a united family.
“For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events, and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into,” he said.
He also suggested that misreporting and public statements from his parents’ side left him no choice but to set the record straight himself. Brooklyn insisted his motivation was not about public drama, but about asserting his own truth.
In his post, Brooklyn detailed what he says are instances of mistreatment and interference, particularly around his relationship with his wife, actress Nicola Peltz Beckham, whom he married in 2022:
- He claimed his parents had “been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding,” and that this effort had continued.
- Brooklyn said his mother cancelled plans to design Nicola’s wedding dress at the “eleventh hour,” forcing the couple to secure a new dress shortly before their ceremony.
- He alleged that his parents pressured him to sign away rights to his name weeks before his wedding, a move he resisted, and that this affected their relationship with him thereafter.
- He also said his mother “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola at their wedding, dancing on him in front of their guests in a way he described as uncomfortable and humiliating.
Brooklyn further claimed that after “standing up for myself,” he faced what he described as “endless attacks… both privately and publicly… sent to the press on their orders.”
According to Brooklyn’s account, their attempts to reconnect in recent months were rebuffed.
He said he travelled to London hoping to spend time with his father, but was only allowed to see him at a large birthday celebration — and only on condition that Nicola was excluded.
He also said that when his family later travelled to Los Angeles, they refused to see him at all.
Brooklyn claimed that his family values public promotion and endorsements more than genuine connection, accusing them of placing the priorities of “Brand Beckham” above sincere family love.
“Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media… even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations,” he wrote.
The social media post also touched on Brooklyn’s emotional well‑being. He said he grew up with “overwhelming anxiety,” which he believes was tied to the family dynamic, but that since distancing himself from what he describes as controlling behavior, that anxiety has diminished.
“For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family… that anxiety has disappeared,” he wrote.

Brooklyn stressed that he and Nicola do not want a life shaped by public image, press manipulation, or performative gestures, but rather one built on privacy, peace and happiness.
“…all we want is peace, privacy, and happiness for our future family,” he stated.
As of now, neither David nor Victoria Beckham has publicly responded to Brooklyn’s statements.
Sources cited in some reports indicate that, privately, his parents would like to repair the relationship, but the two sides appear to remain at an impasse.
