Renowned gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, has announced the date for a fundraising event to support the final send-off of his late wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, who passed away earlier this week.
In a statement shared with the public, DJ Krowbar revealed that the fundraiser will take place on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 5:00pm, at St. Thomas Hall, All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi.
The event is intended to help the family meet funeral and related expenses as they prepare to lay Joyce to rest.
Joyce Wanjiru Karumba died on January 26, 2026, following a prolonged battle with kidney-related complications.
Her death prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans, fellow gospel artists and members of the Christian community, many of whom have followed the couple’s journey and offered support during her illness.
Contributions can be sent via M-PESA Paybill number 4815005, under the account name “Joy Wa Karosh Farewell.”
Donors have been encouraged to use their names as the account reference when making contributions.
Beyond the fundraising event, the family has also been holding daily evening prayer meetings as they mourn Joyce and prepare for her burial.
The prayers have drawn friends, relatives and members of the gospel fraternity, reflecting the strong community support surrounding the family.
A memorial service for Joyce will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Nairobi Chapel, giving friends and supporters an opportunity to celebrate her life and legacy.
Her burial is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Nyeri County, where she will be laid to rest.
DJ Krowbar, a respected figure in Kenya’s gospel music scene, is widely known for his role in promoting gospel music through DJing, mentorship and faith-based events.
Following the announcement of Joyce’s death, messages of condolence poured in from fellow gospel artistes, media personalities and fans, many of whom praised her strength and the couple’s public testimony of faith during challenging times.
