Kenyan digital content creator Georgina Njenga has publicly opened up about her battle with depression, revealing that she has been going through a difficult mental health period following major personal changes in her life.

The influencer’s candid disclosure has sparked renewed conversations around mental health awareness, particularly among young people and public figures navigating life in the spotlight.

Georgina, who rose to fame through lifestyle content and her former relationship with actor Tyler Mbaya (popularly known as Baha), shared her experience in a heartfelt social media post.

In the statement, she acknowledged that despite maintaining a composed appearance online, she has been dealing with emotional challenges privately.

“I hate my depressive episodes so much because sometimes I am not even aware they are happening until I snap out of it,” Georgina wrote.

She added that there are moments when she appears fine externally, yet internally feels disconnected and overwhelmed.

The influencer emphasized that social media often presents a polished version of reality, which can mask real-life struggles.

“Life behind the camera isn’t always as perfect as it looks,” she noted, echoing a sentiment shared by many creators who face pressure to remain consistent and upbeat regardless of their mental state.

Georgina linked the onset of her emotional struggles to a series of life transitions, including her breakup with Mbaya, with whom she shares a child.

While she avoided detailing the separation, she acknowledged that the experience significantly affected her emotional wellbeing.

Adjusting to co-parenting, personal healing, and public scrutiny simultaneously, she said, has not been easy.

In her post, Georgina also revealed that during her lowest moments, she has experienced intrusive and frightening thoughts that deeply unsettled her.

“Sometimes I get random thoughts that scare me, and I honestly don’t even understand where they come from,” she shared, describing how overwhelming the episodes can be.

Despite the struggles, Georgina made it clear that she is committed to healing and personal growth.

She described her journey as ongoing, noting that progress is not always linear.

“I am grateful for healing, even when it feels slow. I’m learning to be patient with myself,” she said.

The influencer also expressed appreciation for the support she has received from those close to her and from followers who have reached out with encouragement.

According to Georgina, the kindness and understanding shown by others have played a role in helping her navigate difficult days.

Beyond sharing her personal experience, Georgina revealed plans to use her platform to speak more openly about mental health.

She hinted at possibly creating regular content focused on emotional wellbeing, with the aim of helping others who may be silently struggling.

“I’m thinking of talking more about mental health because I know I’m not the only one going through this,” she wrote.
