Digital creator and cross-dresser Kelvin Kinuthia has announced that he is seriously contemplating a legal name change to a feminine one.

The entertainer shared his plans in a candid video on social media, revealing that he is tired of repeated reactions and confusion from people when he presents his national ID card, which currently bears his masculine name.

In a video shared on his official profile on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Kinuthia explained that people often react with disbelief, suspicion, or even jokes when he shows his ID while dressed in a feminine style.

According to the entertainer, these reactions have made simple transactions and everyday interactions exhausting” and “difficult”.

“Nikama tutabadilisha jina za ID… guys am suffering, mimi nataka munisaidie,” Kinuthia said in the clip, asking his followers if anyone knew how to help him with changing the name on his official identification.

He added that people sometimes ask him where his ID is as if it doesn’t belong to him or even imply that he might have stolen someone else’s card.

Those repeated questions and reactions have led him to believe that a legal name change might be a practical solution to the issue.

Beyond just announcing his plan, Kinuthia took a creative approach by asking his followers for suggestions on what new name he should adopt.

In the video, he appealed directly to his audience, “Niite just a name, niipatie jina gani? Ebu Mnitapitieni jina,” he said, inviting fans to contribute ideas for a feminine name that would better represent his public persona.

In recent years, Kinuthia has also shared other personal updates with his audience, including his decision to begin laser hair removal treatments to reduce facial hair, which he said was part of his aesthetics and comfort in his day-to-day appearance.

In Kenya, a legal name change typically requires filing an application with the Registrar of Births and Deaths, an affidavit or deed poll detailing the new name, and official gazettement before it becomes legally binding.

These steps are not unique to entertainment figures and are part of the standardized process for anyone seeking to change their name on official records.
