Singer Kevin Bahati has confirmed he plans to meet a woman who recently surfaced, claiming to be his biological mother.
Speaking after the woman’s video went viral, Bahati acknowledged the claims and said he is willing to meet her face-to-face.
“This is an issue that went viral, and I didn’t want to jump or rush to address it,” the singer said after a woman surfaced online claiming she is his biological mother.
The musician admitted the story caught him off guard.
“To me, it caught me by surprise,” he said. “Of course, how it went viral… There is a woman who came out, and she said that she is my mom.”
The claims spread quickly across social media, triggering intense debate and speculation about the singer’s long-held childhood story.
Bahati revealed that his first instinct was to stay silent.
“I tried to ignore it,” he explained, suggesting he did not want to fuel the online frenzy.
The father of five has, for years, publicly maintained that he lost his mother at a young age and even attended her burial — a detail that directly contradicts the woman’s recent claims.
“I attended my mother’s burial,” Bahati has previously stated when addressing the matter.
That contradiction is now at the center of the controversy.
The woman, whose video circulated widely online, alleged that she was forced by circumstances to give up her child years ago. She claimed she is alive and is Bahati’s biological mother.
“Finally!….I talked to her today….I will meet her face to face on Friday,” Bahati said.
Bahati has previously spoken emotionally about growing up in a children’s home after being abandoned as a toddler. His story of loss and resilience has been central to his public identity and music career.
In a widely circulated video, the woman claimed she was forced by circumstances to give up her child years ago. She maintained that she is Bahati’s biological mother and expressed a desire to reconnect.
Bahati has not confirmed whether he believes the woman’s story but indicated he is open to listening.
“If she says she is my mother, we will sit down and talk,” he said.
The singer, however, has maintained composure amid the speculation.
“This is something serious,” he noted. “It’s not something to joke about.”
