NAIROBI, Kenya- A Kibera-based content creator has been named among ten global winners selected to join YouTube philanthropist Mr Beast on a high-profile charity mission in Ghana, after taking part in the 2026 One Billion Followers Summit in Dubai.

The influencer, Godfrey Mwamburi Wavonya, popularly known online as @duty_boy_stylish, earned the rare opportunity after standing out in a global kindness challenge linked to the summit, which concludes on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in the United Arab Emirates.

From Kibera to the Global Stage

The initiative—organised by the One Billion Followers Summit in partnership with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Initiative and the Varkey Foundation—sought to turn everyday acts of kindness into viral global movements.

Participants were required to carry out a documented act of kindness, share it on social media, tag Mr Beast and the summit, and submit their content for review.

Ten creators were eventually announced live during the summit, earning a chance to travel with Mr Beast to Ghana, where they will help build a village as part of the American creator’s wider philanthropy drive.

Mr Beast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, recently launched the “1 Billion Acts of Kindness” campaign, aimed at mobilising creators worldwide to use their platforms for social good.

Acts of Kindness That Stood Out

Wavonya emerged as one of the few selected creators from informal settlements, drawing attention to grassroots efforts often overlooked in global digital spaces.

Working with university colleagues and online supporters, the Nairobi influencer focused on supporting street children and homeless adults, including:

  • Cooking and distributing food in rescue centres
  • Buying clothes and shoes for vulnerable children and adults
  • Offering basic necessities aimed at restoring dignity and comfort

His content, shared online, resonated with judges for its consistency, authenticity and community-centred approach.

‘Kindness Can Come From Anywhere’

Reacting to his selection, Wavonya described the recognition as both humbling and motivating, saying it reaffirmed that impact is not defined by background or location.

“What one man can do, two people can do better,” he said, urging collective rather than individual action.

He added that one-off gestures are not enough, calling for sustained support for vulnerable communities and encouraging politicians, artists and fellow content creators to use their platforms to drive positive change.

A Global Message With Local Roots

Wavonya’s journey from Kibera to a global charity mission has since inspired online conversations, reinforcing the campaign’s central message: simple acts of kindness, when shared, can create global impact.

As he prepares to travel to Ghana alongside Mr Beast and other international creators, his story highlights how African creators are increasingly shaping global narratives—one act of kindness at a time.
