‘This is Just Wrong’: Maureen Waititu Defends Edwin Sifuna After ODM Ouster

Trending

Kenyan content creator Maureen Waititu has weighed in on the political storm surrounding Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna following his removal as Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Waititu shared a video of Sifuna addressing members of the press after news of his ouster broke. In the clip, the senator appeared firm and composed as he responded to questions regarding the party’s decision.

However, it was Waititu’s caption accompanying the video that quickly drew attention across social media platforms.

“Man — this thing is just wrong. Sifuna is a man of principles but men of principles in this country of ours are victimized for standing with what is right. Dang it! I hate it here,” she wrote.

The strongly worded message captured her frustration over the developments within ODM.

In her caption, Waititu framed Sifuna as a leader guided by principle rather than convenience.

The phrase “Dang it! I hate it here” added an emotional layer to her message, indicating deep frustration with what she perceives as systemic issues in the country’s political culture.

Her remarks resonated widely online, with some Kenyans agreeing that Sifuna has consistently positioned himself as a vocal and outspoken figure within ODM. Others, however, maintained that internal party matters should be resolved within established party structures.

Sifuna, who also serves as the Senator for Nairobi County, has in recent months been known for taking firm public positions on national political issues.
