MC Chris Warns TikTokers About Rise in Nude Livestreams

Trending

Kenyan content creator MC Chris Kirubi Junior has raised alarm over the growing appearance of explicit nude livestreams on TikTok, cautioning fellow creators and users about what he describes as a worrying lapse in content moderation on the popular social media platform.

In a video shared on his TikTok account, MC Chris expressed shock after coming across livestreams that featured adult nudity and sexually explicit behaviour, content that is strictly prohibited under TikTok’s Community Guidelines.

He revealed that despite reporting some of the streams through the app’s built-in reporting tools, he received feedback indicating that the content did not violate platform policies.

“I was shocked that such content could go live and even more surprised when the report came back saying it didn’t go against the rules,” MC Chris said, noting that TikTok is widely used by young people in Kenya and across the world.

MC Chris’s warning comes at a time when TikTok is already under increased scrutiny both locally and internationally over child safety, online exploitation, and the effectiveness of its content moderation systems.

Livestreams, unlike pre-recorded videos, present unique challenges for platforms, as inappropriate content can appear and spread before moderators intervene.

The creator stressed that his concern was not about policing adult creators, but about protecting minors and unsuspecting users who may be exposed to explicit material without warning.

“TikTok has a huge young audience. When such content slips through, it becomes a serious issue, not just for creators, but for families and society,” he said.

According to TikTok’s Community Guidelines, nudity, sexual acts, and sexually explicit behaviour are not allowed, especially in live broadcasts.

The platform states that livestream content must adhere to stricter standards because of its real-time nature and potential exposure to underage viewers.

Despite these policies, creators like MC Chris argue that enforcement is inconsistent, allowing some explicit livestreams to remain active for extended periods before action is taken, if at all.

Beyond cautioning TikTokers, MC Chris urged users to remain vigilant and proactive. He encouraged creators to avoid engaging with explicit livestreams, report them immediately, and speak up when moderation appears to fail.

“If we don’t call it out, it becomes normal,” he said.
