British rapper and Supacell actor Justin Clarke-Samuel, widely known as Ghetts, will spend the next 12 years behind bars after a London court sentenced him over a fatal road crash that claimed the life of a 20-year-old student.
The court handed down the sentence this week following his conviction for causing death by dangerous driving.
Prosecutors told the court that Clarke-Samuel drove under the influence and struck a pedestrian in East London. The victim later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
The sentencing marks a dramatic fall for the award-winning artist who recently expanded his career into acting, including a role in Netflix’s hit superhero drama Supacell.
The crash occurred on 18 October 2025 in Ilford, East London. Authorities said Clarke-Samuel drove at speed before hitting 20-year-old university student Yubin Tamang.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead two days later.
Prosecutors presented evidence in court showing that Clarke-Samuel had consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel. The Crown Prosecution Service argued that his actions directly led to the young man’s death.
Clarke-Samuel later pleaded guilty to the charge.
During sentencing, the judge described the offence as serious and preventable.
The court emphasized the irreversible consequences of dangerous driving and stated that the sentence must reflect both accountability and deterrence.
Under UK law, individuals convicted of causing death by dangerous driving can face lengthy prison sentences depending on the circumstances, including evidence of intoxication.
The court also disqualified Clarke-Samuel from driving for an extended period following his release.
Clarke-Samuel built his reputation as one of the UK’s most respected grime and rap artists. Over the years, he earned acclaim for his lyricism and storytelling, carving out a loyal fan base across Britain and beyond.
He recently expanded into acting, appearing in Supacell, a Netflix original series set in South London.
The show follows five ordinary Black Britons who suddenly develop superpowers, weaving themes of community, identity and survival.
In the series, Clarke-Samuel played “Krazy” (Craig), a gritty gang figure who operates within the criminal underworld that intersects with the lives of the main characters.
His character added tension and realism to the storyline, embodying the harsh environment that shapes many of the protagonists’ struggles.
The show quickly gained international attention after its debut, and Netflix renewed it following strong viewership numbers.
Clarke-Samuel will begin serving his custodial sentence immediately.
