Tanzanian Bongo Flava star Zuchu will headline the entertainment line-up at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 final in Nairobi, even after publicly declaring she would never collaborate with Kenyan artists.

The celebrated singer, known for hits like Sukari, will take the stage at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on August 30, 2025, alongside Kenya’s Savara and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo.

On her official pages, Zuchu could hardly hide her excitement: “I’m so thrilled to announce that I will be headlining the African Champions League final this year. #CHAN2024 happening in Nairobi at Kasarani Stadium on August 30, 2025,” she wrote.

Zuchu’s announcement comes barely two months after she vowed never to work with Kenyan artists again.

At the time, she accused Kenyans of disrespecting Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu, saying she would not forgive what she described as national humiliation.

While Zuchu makes headlines off the pitch, all eyes will also be on the CHAN 2024 final showdown.

Defending champions Morocco will be chasing a record-extending third title, having beaten Senegal 5-3 on penalties in the semis after eliminating hosts Tanzania in the quarters. They had earlier sealed qualification by finishing second to Kenya in Group A.

Their opponents, Madagascar, have been the fairytale story of the tournament. The island nation stunned Kenya in the quarter-finals, winning 4-3 on penalties at Kasarani before edging out Sudan 1-0 in extra time in Dar es Salaam to reach their first-ever CHAN final.

For fans, Saturday promises not just a thrilling continental football finale, but also a star-studded closing ceremony—where Zuchu’s performance will no doubt spark as much conversation as the match itself.
