Celebs Left Disappointed After Cashmeer’s Surprise Wedding Switch

What was billed as the society wedding of the weekend has turned into one of the most talked-about curveballs in Kenya’s entertainment scene.

Cashmeer Sayyid, a rising public figure known for her glitzy image and bold personality, stunned her high-profile guests when her much-anticipated ‘wedding’ turned out to be something entirely different — a personal project launch.

The event, held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, had been teased for weeks on social media. Glimpses of opulent décor, hints of a bridal gown, and a guest list packed with celebrities had fans and industry watchers counting down the days.

Many assumed they were about to witness a lavish union, complete with vows, rings, and all the trimmings.

But once the guests — including influencers, artists, and media personalities — settled into their seats, the truth emerged. Instead of walking down the aisle to meet a groom, Cashmeer took the stage alone.

Her ‘big day’ was actually the unveiling of a new personal project chronicling her survival story, a journey she described as “a wedding to my dreams, not to a man.”

For many, the twist was an emotional whiplash. Social media influencer Pritty Vishy was among the first to voice her feelings publicly.

In a candid post shared shortly after the event, she admitted to being both amused and frustrated. “We came for a wedding, we got a TED Talk,” she quipped, adding that she had gone to great lengths to prepare for what she thought was a formal celebration of love, and not to mention that she is still not completely healed from her cosmetic procedures.

Her comments echoed the sentiments of other attendees, some of whom privately admitted to feeling duped.

Many had splurged on designer outfits and accessories for the occasion, expecting red-carpet moments and wedding-day glamour. Instead, they found themselves at what felt more like an inspirational seminar than a marriage ceremony.

Content creator Winnie Njenga was another outspoken attendee. She expressed regret over having missed her cousin’s traditional ruracio ceremony to attend what she believed would be a wedding event — only to discover it was actually a business launch

TikTok sensation and beauty entrepreneur Gloria Ntazola presented a different kind of repercussion.

She publicly apologized to her clients after closing shop to attend the event. The apology highlighted the disruption caused in her professional life due to the unexpected change of plans.

That’s not to say Cashmeer’s event lacked style. A number of attendants felt duped as they went over and beyond to dress for a wedding and had a mood set for a wedding too. Actress and content creator Trisha Khalid reportedly walked out of the event out of disappointment.

As for Cashmeer, she appeared unfazed by the chatter. In follow-up posts, she defended the choice, saying she wanted to make a bold statement about self-love and resilience. “This was my moment,” she wrote. “Not about a man, but about my life and my fight.”
