NAIROBI, Kenya- Chelsea Football Club has confirmed that head coach Enzo Maresca has left the club with immediate effect, with his position described as untenable after a breakdown in relations with the club’s hierarchy.
The decision follows growing dissatisfaction with results and internal tensions at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have won only one of their last seven Premier League matches, and the club cited the need for a change to help steer the season back on course.
Maresca led Chelsea to notable successes during his 18‑month tenure, including triumphs in the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.
“During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club,” the Club said in a statement.
However, recent performances and a strained relationship between the coach and the board culminated in the split.
