Tanzanian music royalty Diamond Platnumz has dropped yet another bombshell—this time, on how he secretly married singer Zuchu.
In a new podcast interview released on August 7 on Way up, the Jeje hitmaker admitted that when he tied the knot with Zuchu in a private Islamic Nikah ceremony earlier this year, even his mother, Mama Dangote, was not in the loop.
“I married Zuchu without telling my mum. After the ceremony, I called her and said, ‘Mum, I’m married.’ She just said ‘What?” Diamond recalled with a cheeky grin.
This fresh layer of honesty has sent fans into a frenzy, reigniting curiosity about the couple’s hush-hush union—and why one of Africa’s most public celebrities chose to go private when it mattered most.
The marriage itself wasn’t exactly unknown—Diamond had quietly confirmed it back in June 2025, when he posted elegant photos of himself and Zuchu dressed in traditional Islamic wedding attire.
In a cryptic caption, he wrote: “I know each of you has a different idea of Diamond Platnumz and marriage. But today I want to tell you that Diamond Platnumz has been married before… and one day I’ll tell you how it happened.”
The intimate Islamic wedding took place in Dar es Salaam, attended only by close family and friends. It was a classic Nikah ceremony—modest, spiritual, and deeply personal.

A behind-the-scenes clip later shared by Wasafi TV captured Zuchu giggling as she referred to Diamond as “my husband,” seated next to him in a car, her voice giddy with excitement.
One of the most surprising elements of today’s revelation was Diamond’s decision to leave out his mother, a central figure in his life and career.
Mama Dangote has since expressed grace and acceptance, stating she was proud of her son regardless of how the event unfolded. She even reposted some of the wedding content with congratulatory captions.
Zuchu’s mother, celebrated Taarab singer Khadija Kopa, also confirmed she was not in attendance but gave her full blessing.

In her words: “They did it secretly, but Alhamdulillah… I pray for blessings upon them.”
Diamond explained that the decision to keep things quiet was a strategic move to protect the relationship and avoid the “noise” that often follows his personal life.“I didn’t want fans to shift focus from the music to the marriage. There will be a bigger wedding later. This one was just for us and our families.”
He also urged fans to understand that being married wouldn’t change his artistic image:“If I’m shooting a video with a woman, or performing with someone on stage, don’t ask ‘Where’s your wife?’ This is entertainment.”
