NAIROBI, Kenya — Comedian-turned-philanthropist Eric Omondi has sustained ligament injuries in his left leg and hip during his 486-kilometre charity walk from Nairobi to Mombasa but insists the mission will continue.
Omondi, who set off on February 10 from Nyayo National Stadium, is undertaking the multi-day trek to raise funds for the Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre, a planned facility aimed at supporting vulnerable communities.
On Tuesday, he revealed on his TikTok page that he had torn ligaments after the physical strain of the journey began to take its toll.
At the start of the walk, Omondi said the team had been driven by “excitement, anticipation, and hype.” At one point, he ran from Nyayo Stadium to Bellevue, appearing energetic in early morning updates before the injury slowed him down.
Despite the setback, he vowed not to abandon the cause.
“We continue tomorrow,” he said, adding that he would walk to Mombasa despite the pain — and even crawl if necessary to complete the journey.
A 486km Mission
Dubbed the “Walk of Love,” the trek covers roughly the distance between Nairobi and the coastal city of Mombasa. Omondi hopes to complete the walk in four days and arrive at Mama Ngina Waterfront Park on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
The fundraiser seeks to finance the construction of the Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre. The planned facility will include two ambulances, a clinic, a warehouse, and a free secondary school.
In earlier appeals shared online, Omondi said the initiative has already handled more than 200 cases over the past two years but requires expanded infrastructure to meet growing demand.
“May God bless you,” he told supporters, thanking Kenyans who have contributed and those walking alongside him.

Public Support and Visibility
Videos shared on TikTok and Instagram show crowds joining him along sections of the route, cheering and documenting the journey.
What could have been a solitary endurance challenge has instead become a communal event drawing supporters from different towns.
Omondi’s social media platforms have become the primary source of updates, offering real-time footage of both his determination and the physical toll of the walk.
The journey underscores his evolution from entertainer to activist.
Through Team Sisi Kwa Sisi, he has previously mobilised support for families facing medical crises and highlighted cases of vulnerable children in need of rescue and rehabilitation.
