EMBU, Kenya – The much-anticipated Embu County Governor’s Cup Season 2 came to a thrilling close on Sunday, celebrating sports talent and unity across the county.

Faith Stars FC from Muconoke in Mbeere North were crowned champions in the men’s football category, while Kirimari Ladies emerged winners in the ladies’ rugby competition.

In a tightly contested men’s final, Faith Stars FC edged out Marvellous FC from Manyatta with a narrow 1–0 victory. Kirimari Ladies also put up a spirited performance to defeat Santos Starlets in the rugby final.

The colorful event was graced by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programs Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, who represented Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

Congratulating the winners, Ruku said the Kenya Kwanza Government was committed to nurturing young talent not only in Embu County but across the country.

“The Kenya Kwanza Government is already putting measures in place to support young people and grow talent, not just here in Embu but across the entire country,” said Ruku.

He urged the youth to embrace and protect their talents, warning them against being exploited by self-seeking politicians.

“Young people should not allow themselves to be used by politicians who only pursue personal interests and abandon them to suffer afterward,” he added.

Ruku further called on the youth to continue supporting the Kenya Kwanza administration, noting that the government has numerous programs aimed at empowering them.

“This government has many opportunities for young people, and we encourage them to take advantage of these initiatives,” he said.

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire also congratulated all participating teams, reaffirming her administration’s commitment to supporting youth development through sports.

“As a county, we will continue supporting our young people so they can thrive and earn a living through their talents,” said Mbarire.

She further appealed to the national government to invest in sports infrastructure within the county.

“We are asking the national government, under President William Ruto, to construct a racing track at Moi Stadium because Embu has immense athletic talent that needs proper facilities,” Mbarire said. said.
