Kenyan comedian Flaqo Raz has opened up about the moment that turned his life around—crediting fellow content creator Seth Gor for giving him the chance that sparked his rise to fame.
Speaking during an interview on The Obinna Show, the multi-character skit star revealed that his career-changing break started with nothing more than a simple direct message.“I just shot my shot. I sent Seth Gor a DM asking if I could join them for a shoot. He replied, and that one ‘yes’ changed everything,” Flaqo shared.
After accepting Flaqo into his crew’s content shoot, Seth went beyond just a friendly gesture—he opened the door to major opportunities. One of the most significant was linking Flaqo to his first commercial gig: a brand deal with Airtel.
At the time, Flaqo was still an up-and-coming creator juggling his hustle and financial struggles. The Airtel project paid him KSh 120,000, a figure he described as “life-changing” and a sign that his passion could become a real career.“That 120K was like a million to me then. It made me believe that this content thing could work,” he said.

Seth Gor is one of the OG names in Kenya’s online comedy scene. Bursting onto the scene in the early 2010s, Seth carved a niche with his fast-paced, relatable skits — a style used by the viral Vine format that took over the internet globally. His videos mix English, Kiswahili, and Sheng, capturing everyday Kenyan life with humor and wit.
From hilarious parodies of Nairobi hustle to exaggerated takes on dating, matatu culture, and Kenyan politics, Seth’s content touches on a variety of topics. Seth has worked with heavyweights like Njugush, Eddie Butita, and he’s respected in the industry for opening doors for new talent.
Away from the skits, Seth has partnered with major brands across telecoms, entertainment, and FMCG, proving he’s as marketable as he is funny. His adaptability keeps him relevant across platforms from Facebook to TikTok.
Flaqo didn’t hold back in expressing his gratitude to Seth Gor, saying he’ll forever remember that moment of generosity and trust. “God bless Seth Gor for believing in me when I was just another guy in the DMs. He didn’t have to, but he did—and I ran with it,” Flaqo told Obinna.
Since that fateful DM, Flaqo has gone on to become one of Kenya’s most recognized comedic creators, amassing millions of views for his character-driven skits and branching into music, brand partnerships, and live performances.
