NAIROBI, Kenya – Kamene Goro has clocked 34 but for her, this is far more than just another calendar flip.
In a vulnerable birthday reflection on her Instagram page, the media personality who’s on her recuperating journey opened up about a year that traded her control for a profound spiritual awakening, forcing a deep, hard-won gratitude.
“Nothing could have prepared me for this year,” she shared, acknowledging that the last twelve months were defined by a rollercoaster of “pain and love in equal measure.”
For Kamene, 33 was a year where laughter and tears happened in such quick succession that the only way to survive was to let go and let God.
At the heart of her reflection she speaks of her small circle of friends and family who held her down when she no longer had the strength to stand on her own.
Her message from her journey to 34 concludes with a powerful, quiet resolve: To be still.

“Another year! To think it could have been the year I wasn’t going to see, nothing could have prepared me for this year, all that has happened was far from my plan but the year 34 has taught me Gratitude, we take so much for granted, it’s taught me family and how they really are all we have between us and God and my friends, the few I now have are my family.”
“It’s taught me Time, you see you can plan and move but at the end of the day Time belongs to God and everything is His Plan, it’s taught me pain and love in equal measure, that laughter and tears can happen in quick succession, it’s taught me that I don’t always have to stand that sometimes it’s okay to lean on someone.”
“It’s taught me how fragile life is, and how scary it can be, but the most important lesson I’ve learned as I turn 34 is To Be Still And Know That HE IS GOD. I’m still here.”
This comes barely weeks after the radio personality underwent a major abdominal surgery.
Kamene revealed that she spent 36 days in hospital, including time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and described it as a difficult and life-altering journey.
“I am no longer in the hospital, my loves. Today marked one week since I was discharged, a major milestone for someone who had slim chances,” she wrote.
“I spent 36 days in hospital, surgeries, ICU, HDU, and finally in private,” she added.
Kamene repeatedly credited her survival and recovery to faith, describing the experience as a spiritual awakening.
